WebThe light was constructed four years later, in 1832, by John Donahoo, at a total cost of $6,500. The structure he built consisted of a small house with a tower on its roof. [1] This tower eventually enclosed a sixth order Fresnel lens , which displayed a white light 36 feet (11 m) above the mean high water mark. [3] WebFirst established in 1822 (discontinued in 1855) the Bodkin Point Lighthouse would have been visible from the North Overlook in the distance. It has long since crumbled and what remains of the lighthouse and the island on which it stood now show only as a ‘navigational hazard’ on present-day maps.
