Rayon embroidery thread comes in both 30wt and 40wt. "Standard" poly embroidery thread is 40wt (ie Floriani, Brother, Isacord, etc.) so if you purchased a 30wt Sulky or Madeira instead of 40wt, it WILL be thicker.
